Homak Manufacturing, founded in 1947 in Chicago by Sigmund H. Danziger, has a rich history of producing high-quality hardware products. The name "Homak" was inspired by a sign Sigmund saw on a hat store, and the company initially specialized in the manufacture of steel kitchen cabinets. In the 1960s, Homak expanded its product offerings to include a separate line of hardware products, such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories.

Homak's hardware line gained widespread acceptance in major retail businesses, and the company continued to thrive under the leadership of Sigmund's wife, Gertrude, who ran the company for 25 years following Sigmund's death in 1979. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak extended its product line to include automotive, hospital, and sporting goods.

In 2005, Homak was acquired by JVA and relocated its office to western Pennsylvania, where its facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center.
