Homak Manufacturing, founded in 1947 in Chicago by Sigmund H. Danziger, initially focused on producing steel kitchen cabinets. However, in the 1960s, the company expanded its product offerings to include a separate line of hardware products such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories. The name "Homak" was coined after a sign Sigmund saw on a hat store.

Homak's hardware line gained significant traction and was widely accepted in many major retail businesses of its time. Following Sigmund's passing in 1979, his wife, Gertrude, took over the company's leadership and ran it for the next 25 years. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak further diversified its product line to include automotive, hospital, and sporting goods items.

In January 2005, Homak was acquired by JVA, and the company's office was relocated to western Pennsylvania. The Homak facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center. Today, Homak's primary focus is on tool storage and gun cabinet security, with a full product line that includes hand-carry toolboxes, tool bags, parts organizers, tool storage cabinets, workbenches, garage furniture, safety cabinets, spill containment systems, P.B & E. products, steel lockers, gun cabinets, fire-resistant safes, ammo storage boxes, and accessories.
